I have a 1990 140 johnson I have just put on a bass boat i have own the motor since 1994.I premix the fuel becaues i unhook the oil injection for the motor about 3- year ago . Now the alarm goes off after the boat plan off and run for about 1000 yards the alarm is continuess but the motor got a solid stream water come out.I power down and shut the motor down and check the motor too see if it was hot. It was not hot to touch.I let it sit for about 5 min. the alarm doesn't sound and I start it up run it a little above idle speed and have no problem.I think its the overheat scensor going bad.
