I have a 1977 evinrude 70 hp . I was searching iboats for new cables and the site says I need 1979-later cables . A least they look exactly like mine.Also I need the rubber part that the control cables run throught at the motor . Any idea on what it is?

You probably have the 479 cables and need the rubber grommet part # 318401. ishopmarine.com has the grommet or most dealers will have it too... Lot of times the grommet is missing for some reason. Never have had one on my 28 Johnson...
