Hi, my father-in-law has just bought a new engine for his boat but is unsure on the best fuel to oil ratio to use. It's a Johnson Seahorse 4, the model number is J4BRCTA and we think it was made in either Belgium or the USA. I know it's not a lot of information but can anyone help? Thanks

Welcome to iboats. :)

1983. They were advertising 100:1 around about then, but went back to 50:1 after a year or two. So 50:1.

Re: Fuel to Oil Ratio

Were all Evinrudes rated for 100:1 ???

i heard the reason why the changed it was, because in storage the motors were more prone to siezing because of the lack of oil left in the cylinders..
is thier any truth behind this?????
