jnichols<br />As far as I know, you would have to pull off the rectifier(I think 4 bolts)so you can access the wires coming from your Stator. At that point you would need an Ohm meter to check the resistance. A shop manual would be very handy. I however had the flywheel pulled, and once done it was quite obvious that the Stator had been extremly hot; to the point of melting the electrical conduit.<br />Amazing , once this motor was under way, it ran perfect. But as, soon as I pulled back into neutral, she would just bog down and die...sure thought it was a fuel problem. Took it to the mechanic he adjusted the carbs,$400.00 later, I was on my way. No improvement whatsoever.<br />However, unlike your problem, my engine worsened throughot the day. You never know, undoubtly, you will get lots of suggestions, with many angles, from many years of experience. And one of the suggestions will fix your problem. Good luck, Grady
