Hi,

I have been searching the above topic and have found lots of info on testing the alarm by grounding the temp sensor but no definative tests for the low flow switch in the VRO.

The only thing I can think of is to disconnect and plug the oil supply and run her on pre mix to see if the alarm goes off.

Anyone got any better ideas?

Cheers Kenny

Re: VRO testing

The later model factory service manuals have the testing procedures in them.

There are 3 tests, pressure and vacuum, oil quantity and flow, and the oil alarm test.

You are on the right track by disconnecting the oil line and run the motor-it takes a while before the residual oil is used up at low speed before the alarm sounds. Make sure you hook up a 50:1 fuel oil mix (2%) before disconnecting the oil line.

Here is a VRO link:

http://continuouswave.com/whaler/reference/VRO.html

Re: VRO testing

Leave the system connected, mark the oil level in the tank, run a premix of 50:1 and verify oil use. If the level is dropping you are good to go.
