This motor is on a boat I am interested in buying ( a 1984 22 foot Grady White) I wanted some insight as to how well these motors hold up, problems they have and what to lookout for. I was told the motor was rebuilt 5 years ago and it's been run in saltwater.I'm told all cylinders show 85 lbs compression and it runs and shifts great.<br />Thanks-

Welcome old boat!<br /><br />First....there weren't a 200hp in 84'....or 85'. But there was in 83' and 86'. What you can do is get the model number off the transom bracket and post it here and we can see what we are dealing with.<br /><br />Does it have a VRO pump or say "VRO" on the hood?

Thanks but after looking at the boat and what was left of the motor I chose not to buy it.
