Re: AZ used boat purchase only got trailer title is there a boat or motor title
He is correct, not all states title boats. It has been many years since I lived in AZ but they did not title boats at that time. If you buy a boat in a non title state and it must be titled where you live a bill of sale from him should be all you need.
Re: AZ used boat purchase only got trailer title is there a boat or motor title
I bought my Whaler in Bullhead City, AZ. about two years ago. I live in Calif.. I had to have a bill-of-sale from the person I bought it from, AND a secondary bill-of-sale from the person he bought it from, and that guy was long gone. You might have to be creative.Good luck. Maybe Utah DMVs are more humane than the Calif. ones. ( Or wherever you are.)(Hello BW17MT.)Westender
Re: AZ used boat purchase only got trailer title is there a boat or motor title
crazyray,I live in AZ. AZ does not have titles for boats. There is only a registration. Also, the Game and Fish Dept. handles boat registrations-not the DMV.A bill of sale with Hull ID# will suffice. The trailer is a different story. They have titles and the DMV does handle those.
Re: AZ used boat purchase only got trailer title is there a boat or motor title
The problem arises when the boat is purchased in Arizona, which does not register them through it's Department of Motor Vehicles, and an attempt is made to register it in a state, such as California, which does registers boats through the DMV. I did that and I had to present a secondary bill-of-sale to the Calif. DMV. If you are a resident of Arizona, and you buy the boat in Arizona, there shouldn't be a problem.Westender
Re: AZ used boat purchase only got trailer title is there a boat or motor title
I gave my brother a boat that was registered in NC which does not title boats unless there is a lean on it, the boat registration was all he needed to register in Calif.
