I researched the forums, and found nothing on this particular problem. 1991 Johnson 200, Model VJ200TXE1B. I bought it used on a Grady White, and wanted to try to use it for a few more years. Good compression on all six cylinders, but extremely hard to start. Ran fine once smoke cleared, and would restart easily. Before putting it in the water, I went ahead and replaced the Stator and Power Pack, and kept my old ones for spares. After the flywheel was off, I discovered several broken magnets. I bought new magnets, glass beaded the flywheel, and glued the new ones inside the old flywheel, equally spaced and notches in magnets aligned correctly. Went to start it up, and nothing. Spark test revealed two top cylinders (one on each bank) were getting bright blue spark, but the other four were getting none. Changed coils around, and eliminated possible coil problem. Removed new stator and power pack, and reinstalled old ones. Same problem, spark on two top cylinders only. I have not replaced the trigger base. Any ideas, other than taking it to the local Johnson dealer?
