I have an 1992 evinrude 225 hp and currently using the VRO pump by the part number 438406. I have also tested out another pump with part number 438402 and it also ran fine. There is another VRO pump 5004558 which is recommended for my engine but the cost is twice is expensive as the one I am currently using. Does anyone know the differences among these VRO pumps? I have looked at them from the outside and they all looked identical. I have even opened up the 438406 and 438402 pumps and compared every part and they looked identical. Springs were all the same size.
