I have a 1973 Johnson 40hp. Super Sea-Horse out board motor, Model # RD-22 Serial # 2125395 I'm selling this motor and I need a ghetto way to start it for the buyers.I have it in a 55gal. drum,a 12V car battery,a ign. switch for a car,and 4 wires comming from the motor..The ign. switch has a Bat.terminal,Ign.Terminal,Start Terminal, and a Acc.terminal.The wires coming from the motor, wire coming from the start solenoid,(hooked to st.on the key, works good),wire coming from Vac.cutout switch, one from choke solenoid, and one from bottom side of armature plate..I'v tryed everything nothing works just burned the points (filed and reset)I even put a chrysler resister on it did burn the points, but resister started to smoke.Do I need a marine Key switch ?? Different resister ?? Different Batt. ?? Or.........?????
