Will a 1975 115hp powerhead fit onto a 1980 Javelin 100hp? The 1980 has t/t short & shaft. Any other issues? Appreciate your help.

Even if you change the bolt pattern you'll have a water leak between the powerhead and adaptor plate. The water will come pouring out at the front by the upper motor mount.

You can adapt a newer model (78 & up) to an earlier one with no problem.

Trust me on this one.

BTW -- they never made a short shaft (15") V4 crossflow in the recreational line. You have, most likely, a long (20") shaft. They did make a x-long (25") but they are fairly rare.

I'm sure Dhadley could make it work. He could make a Merc L.U. work also. (He's a mechanical genius.) A powerhead (88, 90 or 115 hp) from the 1980's should be a direct bolt-on, also easier to find parts for. V4 lower units from 1978 to 1995 are interchangeable, prior to that it gets kinda weird.
