No exhaust or water from pee tube at speed

I have a 1968 65hp Evinrude, model 65853B, and while idling along there is water and exhaust coming from the "hole" in the rear of the engine half way down, but get the boat on a plane and nothing comes out at all, exhaust or water. Is it all being drawn down and out the lower unit or do I have something up??<br /><br />Thanks

Welcome aboard Simon!<br /><br />Nothing wrong with the engine. It's normal to see water spray and exhaust coming out the relief holes at low rpm. Speeding up draws the water from the exhaust tube and the exhaust is drawn out with it. Nothing up....just normal ops.
