Drain unit. Insert and tighten the lower drain plug screw, leave the top oil level screw hole open.

Apply 7 to 12 pounds of pressurized air to that hole and look and listen for the leakage area.

Use a rag or rubber grommet of some kind to help seal the air nozzle to the oil level hole.

Re: lv test

Someone once posted that they carved down a tire valve stem to fit snug in the vent hole. I can't remember who it was though.

The easy way to (carve down) a valve stem is to grind it down on a pedestal grinder. Just grind down to same dia. as fill screw 3/8 I think, My remeberer aint what she used to be.

The threds inside the hole will cut into rubber and make a seal. ( may not make a 100% seal no matter it will apply air pressure equally)

Buy pressure gage from auto parts place that reads 0 to 15 or so pounds and then take a bycyle tire pump and plumb in into the hose.

Then pumper up to 10 pounds or so and look for air bubbles in tub of water.

Good luck!
