I have a 1989 Evinrude 88hp. Model number E88MSLCE. It has two wires, (yellow wire and a yellow/orange stripe) coming from the stator. Can any one tell me how many poles it has? My new OMC/BRP tach has positions 1,2,3,4,5,6 to set and each corresponds to the number of posts on the stator. The number five position is for a 12 pole, 6 pulse engine and I think it is the correct one, but I am not sure.
