5hp Johnson power increase?

I have a 5hp single cylinder 2 stroke Johnson made in 1999. It does 13 knots on my 3.1 metre aluminium open dinghy with just me in it but is just short of planing with 2 on board. Was this motor a restricted version of a 6hp and if so can I unleash the other 1hp to try and get it up there? I'm clutching at straws probably but it would make my life a bit less boring if it did. Running up and down the boat trying to get the nose down is good exercise but doesn't get you to your fishing spot quicker.

Not even close I'm afraid. The 6hp is a 2 cylinder engine that shares a lot of parts (including pistons & crankshaft) with the 8hp.<br />The best you can do is get the trim & height set deadly, and distribute weight for better speed. That will make a lot more difference than a small HP upgrade anyway.
