Does anyone have a picture of the throttle linkage on an 56 vintage evinrude 10 hp? I made the stupid mistake of not taking a picture of it before dismantling it. I do not yet have a manual for it but am hunting. Does anyone have any idea how this goes back together? Seems simple enough and there's only one way to put the levers on... but no amount of ways to put the link back in...
There are exploded diagrams over at:http://1958evinrude10hp.0catch.com/Evinrude1.htmWatch out for popups though. I take it you're working on the linkage outside the engine cowl, like the twist throttle handle?
nope... between the roller arm and the carb itself. Thanks for the link, i'll check it out.I read elsewhere about how to line up the line on the lil plate thingy and the roller and its at that point the throttle plate should start to open. There was absolutly no way to hook up the linkage to make that work so I made my own link out of a piece of thin rod and its now running but i'd like to have the original in there just for originality
No problem! I hope that sorts it out for you.If your 10hp was a basket case or something, every now and then we get someone here who's got the wrong cam bolted to their armature plate. I think it comes from swapping them complete with coils and such, since the armature plate is virtually the same on a bunch of Johnny/Rude engines. Just something to be aware of.
well I'm not sure its a problem with the armature plate so much as the linkage itself... the arms coming from the roller seemed to be way too long... i'll snag a picture one of these days. no matter what the position it wouldnt allow any movement when hooked up. So as to not bend the original linkage I made a new piece from some thin metal rod. It seems to have perfect action now. I'll have to hit the water to find out
I ran into these pics, they might have some clue in them:smalloutboards.com/images/e10/inside3.jpgsmalloutboards.com/images/e10/carburetor.jpgThey're from a much later model, but I don't think there were many changes. Hopefully they'll be helpful.
yep looks a lot like that except the top arm is much longer on mine. It comes out almost even with the center of the short arm on the carb. Thanks for the pics.
