Need opinions please. I am looking to buy my first boat of this type. I was looking into an Express Bass Boat 2000 , with a 115 Yamaha. It's a painted aluminum hull. I do both fresh and salt water fishing, the owner says he's never used it in salt water, would this be a problem, or with good cleaning habits, would salt water use be fine?
A lot of mega yachts are made with aluminum and spend their lives in salt water. Make sure you understand the electrolysis issues, use sacrificials specified for aluminum and you should be just fine. I put a post on this in the boats not engine section not long ago (an article on aluminum used in aircraft construction - corrosion issues).
