Model = 70573B
Serial = J0015725
Starts up fine when cold. After 5 minutes of running, it just shuts off, like I turned off the key. No sputtering. It will restart after cooling down. It seems as though something heats up and causes a failure of some component. I just don't know which one. Also, when the starter is hot, it won't engage with the fly wheel. It just spins. Do I need a new starter, or can I fix this one?

Two things to check/do.

1. Remove and clean the negative battery terminal on the engine block.

2. LIGHTLY lubricate the starter shaft. You can do this by "walking", by hand, the pinion gear up the shaft by rotating it counterclockwise.

It also would not hurt to disconnect and reconnect EVERY connection you can find, under the hood.

Make sure the battery is DISCONNECTED for all those operations/checks.

Re: "75" Evin 70hp just quits

I have done all this and believe I have fixed the starter. However, I have doubts about having fixed the main problem of the engine quiting once it gets warm.

Let me ask this. Does this engine have a temperature sensor/thermostat? Is it possible that the engine could get a bit warmer than it's supposed to and some sensor shuts the engine down before it causes damage?

What about the ignition stator under the flywheel? Could that be the cause of my troubles?

And, what does the power pack do? Might that be bad?

Thanks for all your help!!
