I have a 50 hp 1997 Johnson, Model J50ESLEUS that has been blowing the 20 amp fuse located in the engine case. I have been trying to narrow down the source of the problem. I unhooked the tach, which also has the various warnings, low oil, no oil, check engine, and Hot. It has stopped blowing the 20 amp fuse. The needle on the tach is stuck at about 2900 rpm.

Ho do I check the tach and the warning lights to determine if the is the cause of the blown fuses? The plug going into the tach is an eight pin.

Thanks for any assistance.
thekdude

Re: Tachometer trouble shooting

If the tach. is stuck. You can assume it is faulty.
