Ok, I went ahead and bought this motor. I am bound and determined to get er runnin!! It's in pretty darn good condition, and I know all the basics to do before I start the trouble shootin process. But while Im waitin on my manual to get here, can someone tell me what the recommend plugs and gap would be? Former owner had NGK center fires in it, but my research shows that it should be Champion L76V. Im guessin gapped at .030? Could someone confirm? thanx in advance and look forward to many post in the next few months as I bring this old jewel back to speed!!

500ES?

You need to be more specific, Ralphy. I never heard of a 500ES JohnnyRude.

If you mean a 1975, 50 evinrude. The manual calls for L77J4 plugs gapped at 0.040. If indeed thats the motor and you need anything else from a manual until you get yours just holler. Its the same for a johnson 50.
Good-Luck,
KYHunter
