This is a 1977 70 hp johnson. After sitting for a while I hoohed a battery up to the motor and I noticed a arc at the battery terminal. And noticed that every time I would attach the battery the flywheel tries to turn.I disconnected the ignition plug and also pulled the plug wires thinking the plugs were trying to fire but I still have the same problem. The motor will start up and run fine.Any ideas what will cause this. If I leave the battery connected it will go dead.<br />Thanks,Tom

Another member had this happen a while back. It seems the recitifier was blown and allowing voltage back to the stator which attempted to act like an electric motor. Check your rectifier.
