Boat Motor Value Question?

Hi All,<br /><br />I saw an add that included 12' aliminum boat with a 7.5hp Johnson. The year of the motor is 1980 and is said to run great. The add stated to make an offer, so I am wondering what type of value a package such as this has. If someone could suggest a reasonable price that would be great. By the way I am Canadian but feel free to reply with American prices I will do the conversion.<br /><br />Thanks All<br /><br />Jackpine

Jack,the whole equation depends on condition of the motor and boat..If they are to your satisfaction I would start at $500 or even lower.Usually when I am asked to make an offer I reply with "You own it,it is yours,what would you take for it????"You know the owner already has a price in his mind.Your job as a good negotiator is to get that amount out of him so you can offer him less.Charlie
