rebuild 1998 ficht 115 or buy new?

I currently have a 1998 Evinrude 115 ficht. Oil pump apparently blew and aluminum pieces found in pistons. Is this worth rebuilding for around $4500.00 dollars?<br />We are also considering a new 130 e-tec engine. What are your thoughts? :confused:

Welcome to the forum!<br /><br />Its completly up to you. How much money you got to spend.<br /><br />If you think your up to the task...with a little help from some goodoleboys....not nessarily me...Then fix it. for mabey one thousand to fifteen hundred.<br /><br />Or take a look at Iboats for a rebuilt power head with a warantie....couple thousand or bout so.<br /><br />Its your call!<br /><br />Good luck!

Have you pulled the heads & done a look see? Post some pictures if you want some input on what you have.

The heads have been pulled. I will be out of town for a few days but I will try to post some photos next week sometime. I have a plastic bag with big hunks of aluminum in it. I'm not really mechanically inclined but I still might think about trying to rebuild myself.
