Default checking timing '77 85hp Evinrude

The search function isn't giving me anything for some reason. Can I verify timing vaguely without it running? Don't have time right now to put in the water. By the way, I think I may have gotten the issues with this motor not wanting to start and run fixed. Replaced fried stator, rectifier, and power pack. Got it to actually start and run. Thanks to all, especially OBJ. specifically, model 85799S

Mikey, Here's a post that Joe Reeves responded to concerning that, I'm not 100% sure if it will apply to your motor specifically but I think will. http://www.iboats.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ul...;f=28;t=010307 Let me know if it doesn't open

Thanks MCM, I knew there's a Joe Reeves post out there, but searching was bringing nothing up. Kinda weird, I think the search function is out of commission.

Yep, it don't want to work. Says no topic number exists. Must have the Xmas bug.
