Hi Chaps.
I need a new prop for my 64 40HP Bigtwin and was hoping that someone could help me out with any info that I may need with regard to prop size, dimensions etc. I suppose I will also need to know the internal dimensions of a prop with regard to fitting correctly on the shaft.
If someone out there could point me in the right direction I would,as always,be gratefull.
Regards
Tich :)

Re: Bigtwin prop

Hi, that model takes a 10 or 10" or 10 1/2" diameter prop. Pitch ranges for typical boating are from 11 to 15, with 13" being probably the most often fitted.

It's a pin-drive prop, with a 3/4 shaft size. The shear pin fits through a hole in a sleeve at the outer end of the prop. A plastic cover goes over that and is held on with a cotter key.

The original factory prop I got on mine (1960) was a 10 3/8X13 1/3.This was for a 16 foot flatbottom fishing rig (Herter's)

Try a breaker's yard. There are many of these old motors out there. There should be plenty of used props available.

I've got that prop, 10 3/8 X 13 1/4. just has some paint gone from the tips due to sand but the blades are like new. We ran 12in and 11 1/2in pitches on our 14 ft boat.
