This motor had been running great all this spring and early summer. Then, my timing advancer stop lost it's jam nut and the timing was all out of whack. Probably ran it for five minutes before I realized the problem. I then took the boat out with my buddy and a timing light and reset the timing at 22 degrees(johnson spec), and it seemed to run fine for a while, but started to get worse again. Now, I've got wet spark plugs, and also, when I put earmuffs on the motor to test run, the cyls fill with water! Could bad timing have blown the head gasket causing the problem?
