Johnson Starter problem

I have a 1999 Johnson OceanPro 250.. when I turn the key, I just get faint click from the engine. It was working fine prior to taking the lanyard off to reseat it. Then it did not work. I have no idea if taking the lanyard off was a coincidence or not. Also when i felt the starter and hot wire to the starter solenoid it was very hot. Could my solenoid be "stuck" ? Could it be the fuse ? or could it have anything to do w/ the lanyard ?

Thanks

Re: Johnson Starter problem

Thanks... looks like it may be w/ the kill switch (where the lanyard was connected)..since the solenoid does not switch... do you know of a pointer on how to troubleshoot the starter switch and kill switch.. or how to by-pass to see if that works. I did have problems putting the lanyard back on.. so i may have done that incorrectly. thanks
