I went to the local johnson shop to purchase a new prop. I had a 13x19prop but they only had a 14x19. Asked him if he was positive this would clear the anti-cavitation plate, he said yes it will work just fine on your motor. I put the prop on and it does clear, it clears by abought a little more than a 1/4". I can't put my pinky between the cav plate and the prop. My question is, is this prop ok to use?

There is a whole lot more to selecting a prop than just if it will clear the cavitation plate.
Here is a good start to help you understand what all is involved. boatfix. com /how /props

No direct links allowed to sites that sell products that are also included in our business..
In our FAQ, there is a topic on prop choice and the basics in general that I find helpful.

I understand the details of the prop. I just need to know, if the dealer was right in selling me this prop.

That's a loaded question....
the 14Xwhatever in aluminum is the newest design in JohnRude aluminum. To know if it's "right", you need to see if it will spin the proper RPM.

Ok thanks. Thats what the dealer said. that is the newest design. I'LL give er' a try. But first gotta get the WOT rpm up. It would only turn the old prop. 4200 it was a 13x19. Thing i got a fuel leak or bad VRO.

If you "think" you have a bad VRO, you would be well advised to determine if it is or isn't bad before doing any WOT testing. You may very well end up looking for a new engine to go along with the new prop.
