Model E200TXES VRO- it is pumping fuel, vacuum switch activates at 12/13 inches, will run at fast idle as long as you keep activating electric choke w/key, new filters, no air leaks from tank past pump, bubble pump stays hard while running sometimes, new plugs and wires, new electronic box, cleaned fuel line and no debris or water found, and when it is running engine shakes at lower RPM range[1200-1750]. Waiting on books and it just started doing this on second trip out. Ran very good on first trip and halfway across Chesapeake Bay. Lost 1000 RPM on return trip and wouldn't make it back. Also it has a 85 gal in boat tank, vent is open. Removed pickup tube from tank and no visable problems seen?????? Anything I Missed??? :( :(

Sounds like a carb clean is in order. I had the same problem with my 1990 XP-200. The 2 tubes that go into the carb bowls were slightly gunked up with varnish and the low speed air jets were gunked up also.

I had the exact problem with my 96 225 johnson If the carb cleaning doesnt help pull the flywheel to see if the magnet ring on the inside hub has sliped. your timing might be way off(probably advanced) if you can turn it by hand it has slipped. If you look close enough you can hopefully see where to index it and glue it back. or buy a used/new flywheel. dave

MICHIGAN DAVE : THANKS AGAIN THE MAGNET NOT ONLY SLIPPED BUT ALSO IS COMING APART. NOW I NEED TO FIND A NEW ASSEMBLY AS ONE OF THE LARGE OUTER MAGNETS ALSO SLIPPED AND BOTH ARE SEVERELY CHIPPED AND THE INNER ONE IS PRETTY WELL SHOT/CRACKED AND WORE SLAM TO PIECES-LITERRALLY!
I CLEANED THE CARBS AND IT DIDN'T IMPROVE VERY MUCH YET COULD TELL AN IMPROVEEMENT. THANKS TO YOU AND REDBOAT FOR YOUR HELPFUL ADVICE.
CORKEY
