I've just brought a Evinrude outboard and parts motor cheap. The guy that sold it to me said that the motor with serial number 20202R B30510 is a 25hp (has 25hp hood). This I found out to be a 1972 20hp.The parts motor has serial B009522 model E20BFCNB. This I found out to be 1982 20hp. The working motor has a dark blue shaft and the parts motor a light blue shaft. My question is, are my findings correct? Is this motor a 25hp?
That's weird, as the internals are almost exactly the same. The choke handle and stop button look older on the '25hp' but the carb set-up has an extra rod from choke to throttle on the 20hp. They've also got different transoms, not drastically, but different.Weird!
You don't have a 25hp motor, both are 20hp motors, someone probably replaced the cover at some point. Also there should be some differences, theres 10 years seperating them. If you want to find out what parts are interchangeable you can go to this site,http://epc.brp.com/default.aspx?brands=ej&lang=EUse the advanced search feature to cross reference part #'s
Wiggy, that is very wierd , both model #'s indicate 20hp motors. Click on this site then click on Modellguide at top right corner, you can find the years of motors there. Look for an alumunum freeze plug on the top of both motors, the model# should also be located there. Post back what you find.
some one could have changed thr power head .i changed a 50 hp 1973 head to a 1974 foot . those power heads was the same except the 1973 50 was a eletric shift . the 1974 was a manul shift
I agree, everything points towards 20hp!I've check the serials various places, and all say 20hp.I still can't get http://epc.brp.com/default.aspx?brands=ej&lang=E to work, any other sites with schematics on?
