I have an Evinrude 1973, 50 hp, model 50373R.
The engine starts fine. However, I feel it's
running at half power. Compression is good.
While the engine was running I unpluged
the spark plugs one at a time, when I unplugged the top spark plug the engine continued running,
however, when I unplugged the bottom spark plug the engine shut off. I am not sure if I have a bad cylinder or a bad coil. I appreciate any
suggestion. Thanks in advance.

ArcherMJ

Sounds like no spark on the one cylinder. you should check to see if your points are opening . maybe they need to be cleaned & gapped, also check the gap on the plug for starters. I'm not sure of the gaps, my book only goes up to 1972
