I have a 1970 model Evinrude and I have burned up two neutral solenoids in the past two weeks.This problem seems to happen when I have it in neutral and I'm revving up the motor.I was trying to adjust the three carbs.Does this mean that my regulator is bad and I'm producing too much voltage at high RPM?

could be. there is also a clipper circuit that can be failing. someplace there is a procedure to remove it. Joe Reeves remembers more about them than I do. but it was a common failure.
