Johnson 6hp identification

I have been given a 6hp Johnson with apparently low hours. It is fairly old but looks to be in good shape. <br />The Model is 6R70B<br />The serial # is C45136<br />I checked my local library for a repair manual but no luck.<br />Can any one help me with the year of this outboard?<br />Thanks

It's a 1970, Alan. Good little motor, those were. For minor maintenance, you might be able to find one of the Seloc or Clymer books that covers that motor at the library. If you're going to be doing major work, you'll need the OEM service manual, which you can get at marineengine.com.<br /><br />That's a nice reliable old outboard.
