Re: 67' johnson 20hp starter?

Howdy Toy22.

Welcome to iboats. :)

I get alarmed when I see someone looking for a replacement starter. Why? Two reasons.

1. About three of five starters that get replaced aren't bad. Something else much less trouble and expensive in the starting circuit is the real culprit.

2. Once the starter has been correctly diagnosed as bad it is far cheaper to get an automotive starter shop to overhaul it than to buy a new one.

Now. Tell us why you are looking for a starter. We may be able to save you some trouble and expense. :)

Re: 67' johnson 20hp starter?

because i have to pull start it and i wanted to set up electric start . the engine already has a flywheel and i need a starter with mounting bracket so i was wondering what other starters will work on a 20 besides the 20..i could get a 40hp sea horse starter with bracket cheep but i don't have access to trying it beforei buy it . sooo back to my original question ? i know what you mean by getting on fixed rather than buying a new one . thanks for the reply and any info or some one that would happen to have one with a bracket shoot me a price too
