Hello, does anyone know what the proper WOT RPM's should be for 1997 v4 90hp spl? The motor is on an 18foot bowrider, don't know the exact weight, but your typical bowrider, guessing about 1500-1700lbs for the boat + ~300lbs for the motor.

I don't know the prop size either, I'll get that info, but the boat tops out at about 35mph, 4900~5000 rpm's if properly trimmed.

I don't know what the manufacturer spec is for max RPM at WOT, I'm guessing it's more like 5500 rpm, but don't know for sure.

Anyone know?

Thanks

The engine should have the capability to run at least 5500 rpm, at wide open throttle, with a light load.

You are "over propped" Not unlike running around in high gear, all the time.

That engine won't stand for that, for long.

Be aware that every inch in prop pitch is about equal to 200 rpms, + or -.
