What year? Evinrude

Could someone please tell me what year my outboard is? It is an Evinrude Lark 4. It's model # is 35530. Serial # 501XX. I have been having some problems with it. <br />What spark plug should I be using.<br />Thank You.

That's a 1962 40hp Evinrude.<br /><br />It should use Champion J4C plugs, gapped at .030".<br /><br />We can help if you tell us what problems you are having. If you keep that a secret, we can't help.

Thanks for your reply. I always thought it was a 35hp.So much for trying to decode the model #.<br />As for the problem...it starts ok and idles but misfires at all speeds. It lacks power at wide open. Throtle linkage is ok, butterfly opens all the way.Fuel in the glass bowl stays at mid level, but when I pump the bulb engine rpm stay the same.If I close the choke at wide open it runs the same ,then slows down afterabout 3 seconds. Spark plugs are last years. Upper cylinder orange spark, lower blue.<br />Any help is appreciated.<br />Thanks
