15 horse evinrude,thermostat gasket question.
i took the plate off of the head that houses the thermostat and in doing so i buggered the gasket.can i get away with using a silicone gasket maker?

Wouldn't recommend it Dan. Get a new gasket.

dam!thats not what i wanted to here.i ordered the gasket today but it won,t be here for a few days and i wanted to go for a boat ride.i guess i,ll get the oars out.

i didn,t try nr motors.there was a litle bit of crud in and around the thermostat ...but when i dipped it in boiling water it didn,t open so i bought a new one.
