I have a 1988 Johnson 120 (J120TLCCA)that did run ok untill now. The test that I have done has lead to three things.
1-powerpack part#0583489
2-stator part#0583410
3-timer base & sensor part#0583508

All coils have a spark (some what) on the first rotation, then nothing. Only one coil has any spark at every rotation. This spark is very small and only about 1/8 too 1/16 of an inch from the plug wire to ground. I checked all with all plugs removed.

How can I test the three parts listed above or should I buy a service manual?
I though I would try this site first because experience seem to beat any book.

Thanks
scg

Do you have a strong battery and is it spinning the starter/motor fast enough.

Yes, I have a new/strong battery. I have disconnected the black/yellow wire from the powerpack that disabled the kill switch. Still no change in the spark.

Porblem Fixed.......
The connector at the coils from the power pack were corroded 3 out of 4. With new connectors, this motor is running at 100%......

To everyone, check all connections on anything before replacing any parts.
