Will go forward but as you give it power it won't go anywhere. Also, can not get reverse at all.

jr - Welcome!!!<br /><br />Is this engine new to you? Give us some history.<br /><br />Have you checked for water in the gearcase?<br /><br />It may be a simple adjustment. Disconnect the shift cable from the engine and try to shift it by hand at the engine. If it shifts OK adjust the cable & reconnect. If not get back to us.
