I have a Johnson v4 90 hp SeaHorse. Everything was working perfectly when I winterized it last fall - now I'm getting it ready for this season - I put the battery in only to find now that the tilt trim goes up like a charm but won't come down (it must be the VIAGRA I put in the hydraulic fluid last year - just kidding). When I try to lower it, I can hear the tilt motor running but with no movement of the engine downward. The only way I can get it to drop is by loosening the large screw on the starboard side of the tilt unit - when I do this, the tilt motor seems to work in reverse (pressing the "up" button causes the unit to lower the engine).
Any help/suggestions will be much appreciated.
Martin

have you checked to see if their is still plenty of hydrolic oil in the cylinders. It could be that it is to low and that you now have an airbubble somewhere in the system. Try putting new hydrolic oil in and pump out any acces air. It might help.
