Hi Keith, welcome to iboats!<br /><br />I believe it should be somewhere around 650 in gear and 900 in neutral Keith. There is a idle adjust screw on the spark advance lever on the engine. But using this may mask a problem. Can you tell us about what's happening with the engine, new problem or old one? Do you have a service manual?<br /><br />Thanks.
