evinrude bogges down. Only idles

Hi everyone. I have a 1989 28 HP Evinrude. The problem is when I leave the No Wake Zone and start to increase speed, the motor will run fine for just a few seconds then bog down and only idle. Pumping the bulb does not help.<br />I have replaced the fuel line set and have tried another fuel tank but the same results.<br />The next step would be to rebuild the fuel pump?<br />Carb? Thanks

do a compression test and a spark test first

Next time it bogs down have someone with an insulated pliers pull a plug. If your rpms change then that cylinder is getting spark, if it doesn't you are losing it to that cylinder. Check spark and let us know what happens.

This weekend I changed the spark plugs and it ran great. Thanks.

You have to love it when a cheap fix works. No more than they cost you should change them every spring. Enjoy.
