Max rpms evinrude 40 hp 1990

What is the max rpms or wot for 1990 evinrude 40 hp. Is there a chart on the net I could find with a list of different Wide open throttle recomendations for different evinrude motor?Thank you Allan

That motor will live the longest if its set up as close to 6000, with the average load, as possible.

Don't want to hijack this thread but Dhadley, I have an 89 J50. Should I prop for the same rpm's? I'm right aorund 6000-6100 now. I know I can get above 5900 easily but was afraid to go higher.<br /><br />Thanks again

Dave, no reason not to go higher if you want to. What kind of boat do you have it on?

It's on a home built 15' deep vee skiff. I have the setup tweaked pretty good. AV plate is about 1 1/4" above keel. I raised it twice on transom. I currently have an 11 3/4 x 17 prop & was thinking of getting a 11 1/2 x 19. I have a SS 19 pitch but don't think I want to use it.
