82 Evirude 90hp Impeller

I just pickup a 90 hp Evinrude that needed some attention. Having resolved the known issues, I wanted to go through the engine to ensure no others will surface while on the boat ramp.<br />Not being too familiar with outboards, where do I find the impeller?

The impeller is in the lower unit. I highly recommend you get a manual if you are going to work on it your self. The first repair job you do, it has paid for itself.

Is it under the rectagular cover plate or do I have to drop the lower end to get to it?

You will need to drop the lower unit to get at the water pump. You should get a manual for the motor (it will pay for it's self the first time you use it) Theres a shift shaft linkage under the carborators that you will need to disconnect before you drop it. The water pump in under the caseing with about 6 bolts holding it down.
