1987 Evinrude 50 Ignition

I have a 1987 Evinrude 50 and would like to know if this motor has a magneto type ignition or not. I want to put an automotive tachometer on this motor, but the tach I want to buy says it is not compatible with magneto type ignitions.

Yes, its basically a magneto system, but instead of points and condensor it has a CDI.
