'83/84 25hp Evinrude won't stay running

Hi Gang! This is my first posting. I have read alot of your postings and you guys seem to know everything! Anywho, My 25 hp Evinrude has run great since I got it 3 years ago. This season it also runs fantastically. That is until I put it in gear. She will go fine at idle speed yet "bogs down" and stalls when I try to get up to planing speed. Out of gear everything is great. WOT is no problem. Wot in gear sounds like its flooding. I have rebuilt fuel pump...rebuilt the carb and blown it out no less than 6 times. I have tried every carb adjustment readjustment thing that I have read about in your postings. Could it be my powerpack or something electrical or timing related? The striped basss are in and I need to get to them fast! Thanks guys for any info.

Could easily be ignition-related. In fact, it probably is, since you've done the carb cleaning business, although you should check the fuel delivery system thoroughly.<br /><br />Sounds like it's dropping a cylinder. Start by doing a test for spark on both cylinders. When it's idling on the muffs or in the water, use well-insulated pliers to pull one plug at a time. If pulling one doesn't make any difference, then you've found the cylinder.<br /><br />From there, just work back to find the reason for the non-ignition on that cylinder.
