What year Johnson 9.5 HP?

I've got a 9.5 HP Johnson and need the year.<br /><br />Cover of engine says Johnson 9.5 horse<br />Plate on mount says Model 75493D and serial # E01329, and it also is labeled Evinrude.<br /><br />Welsh plug number is J2849852<br /><br />Any help would be appreciated.

Hmm...that model number does not come up in the list of model numbers at marineengine.com. It's not a Johnson model number, either.<br /><br />It's a puzzle. I hope someone will be able to help.

Well, maxrules.com comes up with model 75493 as a 1964 75hp motor. If it has a Johnson 9.5 hp cowling on it, it sure as heck isn't a 1964 75 hp model.<br /><br />I'm stuck on this one. This sounds like a hodgepodge motor, with an ID plate that doesn't belong on the motor.<br /><br />Stuff happens.
