Temperature problem Johnson 25hp 2000

It is a 2-stroke with carb.<br /><br />When starting upp this motor after the winter the SLOW-system was aktivaited after 10 minutes or so. The question is then if the sensor is broken of if it's cooling bad?<br /><br />I have disconnected the sensor and then the motor is working fine. I have mesuared the watertemperature to about 155 F at idle forward. At WOT the watertemperature is only about 100 F.<br /><br />Does anyone know if the cooling is working proporly on this unit based on the facts above?<br /><br />Thanks!<br />/Emil

Doesent anyoen know wat themperature that is normal for this unit?<br /><br />An other solution would be to test the sensor, is it posible to remove it from the enginge and boil it to check at wich temperatures it's starts sendig a signal. At what temperature should the sensor force the engine in to the SLOW-mode an at wich temperature does it stop sending this signal?<br /><br />The dealers ner me will not help me, the whant me to turn it in for repair insted. That sounds expensive... I whant to solve this problem myself.<br /><br />Thanks!<br />/Emil

Well..I'm no expert but 155F on the tattle tale water sounds really hot. The thermostats are usually 140F. When warmed up, can you keep your hand on the top of the cylinder block for a few seconds? If not, you have a cooling problem. Get some "melt" sticks and try them..they will tell you approximately how hot the motor is running. get a manual also.
