Hello, I'm new here, but I've been doing a lot of searches and reading to figure out this problem on my 1992 Evenrude 60. I'm running mix in the tank to be safe, but I've replaced the VRO and pulse limiter, cleaned the oil tank and pickup, replaced the oil line and bulb, replaced the fuel line and bulb and replaced the fuel filter at the engine while I was in there. When I turn the key on, the self check sometimes chirps once and sometimes chirps rapidly but then stops. The motor then starts and runs fine until at load or high speed it sounds the no oil alarm. If I squeeze the oil bulb it has no effect but while running around slowly it will eventually stop until the next time I put a high load or high speed run on it. The VRO lines are tight too.<br />I have a couple theory's... I believe it compares pulses from the VRO to tach pulses to derermine for oil so maybe I'm working on the wrong end of this problem? Where is the tach pulse compared and is that pulse actually from the dash tach or from the ignition? OR can a fuel restriction slow the VRO pump... I know both fuel and oil diaphrams are tied together in the VRO. Maybe not enough restriction to cause a fuel restriction alarm, but enough to slow VRO at high speed? I've read lots of your posts, but many people forget to come back and post the eventual solutions. As I mentioned, the only other unusual clue is the inconsistant self test... maybe the alarm itself is bad? It's only a two wire alarm so how smart can it be? Help!
