Default 200 Evinrude-- hole in block?

Got my engine further apart. We ended up taking this thing apart in a weird order. Suffice it to say we go to(sorry I don't know the boat motor terms probably) taking the carbs off as a unit. Then the plate(intake?? has the reeds in it) off behind the carbs. Which reveals a hole in the (would be oil pan in a regular motor) lower powerhead block???Ok so is the whole thing now toast? Can I get that piece only from salvage and keep going. I suspect its a mated part so I'd have to have both parts of the block(or is it 3?) before I can or could get going again.Right now I'm suspecting its better to try to find a used motor but I'm always open to more thoughts.I should add that we don't have the flywheel off yet. Thats next on the list(told ya we are probably doing it backwards). We'll then pull the bearing cap and pull the part with the hole in it off(amazingly enough we have the part that broke out. but I suspect welding would be really stupid idea)Plus I want to get further into it just to see how bad the inside is after blowing a hole out and what could have possibly caused it for grins.I now suspect that the guy that sold it, realized it had a hole. And when he meant it ran rough with smoke, that meant it had a hole and was ruined....Thanks for all input!Jeff

depending on where the hole is in relation to the crank shaft journals would determine if it could be welded. Pull the flywheel and split the crankcase. Take the broken piece and the intake side of the crankcase to a machine shop or welder and see what they think.Look at your crank and con rod where this piece is missing from to determine what the cause of this hole was. Con rod cap bolt loose? have to find the source of the problem.
